Greetings!

OVERKILL is a fast-paced action game that contains rogue-like elements. You best your enemies and select between a draft of artifacts to get stronger, and continue!

Caution

The development of the game has discontinued in September 2021.

The last version, which is v0.1.0, might contain bugs since it is not tested thoroughly; but, in most cases, it should be playable. If it is not, you can prefer version v0.0.9 for a better experience.

Please do not hesitate to share your thoughts about the game, it may rise again from its ashes one day!

Summary

I really liked the game and finished it after the day I started playing. Good job! : )
-> Overkill game, victory.
Can you give information about how long did it take you to start and finish developing this game from scratch?

Glad that you liked it and well-played!

Most of the visuals that are in the game are assets. I have only spent time coding the mechanics and the systems. I think it took me around 200-300 active hours developing the game, but there were many breaks in between. Those hours took place in 1 year.

OVERKILL is the project I learned how to properly program a game. It probably would take me less than 100 hours if I started coding it again from scratch with my current knowledge.

I hope that answers your question!

Did 100k damage in 30 seconds, power rating of 214 choose wealth as a focus

Woah, that sounds like an amazing run. Thanks for playing the game and leaving a comment!

I like the main game loop but after a certain time it is becoming a key spamming, skills save a little bit of this situation but not enough, Adding some combo moves could save this situation.

The enviroment's pixel size incompatibility with the character's pixel size should be fix.

Promising game. I would like to see it improve.

Happy to hear it!

We are always in search of intriguing mechanics to design and develop around. Unfortunately, the ones we designed about the key spamming situation have not yet been implemented in the game. As for Alpha versions, we hope that that'll be a much lesser issue with the new stuff to be added.

The game is currently using free/paid assets that we do not own as a team. We have received many suggestions about the art including yours. Our talented artist is aware of the situation and replacing the art assets right now; so, it probably will not be a problem anymore in the Alpha versions!

Thanks for playing the game and your comment!
